Add or remove a tool from an assistant
- Open Assistants, select the assistant, then open Tool Kit → Tools & APIs.
- Search for a tool or use the category filters.
- Use the tool card’s add control to assign it. Confirm it appears in Assigned to this assistant.
- To stop this assistant using the tool, use its remove control. The tool remains in the library for other assistants.
- Publish the assistant and test a conversation that previously used the tool.
Tool categories and creation options
The category filters are Platform, Extraction, Handoff, Transfer, Add tag, Remove tag, Custom, and Workflows. Workflows shows workflow-backed cards; it is a browsing filter rather than a custom API tool type. New tool offers these six creation actions:
Platform tools are supplied in the library; they are not a seventh creation action. Available tools, workflow cards, and assistant destinations depend on the selected account. Review each tool’s own configuration before assigning it.
Copy a custom tool to another account
- Open the source custom tool and choose Copy ID.
- Switch to the destination account and open its assistant’s Tool Kit.
- Select Import, enter the Tool Unique ID, then select Import Tool.
- Open the imported tool and review its endpoint, request mode, parameters, headers, and any account-specific identifiers. Replace values that belong to the source account before assigning or testing it.
- Assign the copy to the destination assistant, publish, and verify the result in the destination system.
Delete a custom tool
Open the custom tool’s details or card and choose Delete, then confirm. Deletion removes it from all assistants using that tool. If you only want to stop one assistant using it, remove its assignment instead. Review affected assistants’ instructions, publish them, and verify their replacement behavior before relying on the change in live calls.Troubleshooting
- Tool not found: verify the ID, selected account, and whether the source tool was deleted.
- Imported tool calls the wrong service: check the copied endpoint, headers, and account identifiers before another test.
- Tool appears in the library but does not run: assign it and confirm the assistant has been published.
